i beg to differ.

were the glazing areas of these "modern insulated greenhouses" effectively
insulated (us r20 vs r2) at night? bill sturm measured an 82% energy savings
for his 12,000 ft^2 tomato greenhouse in calgary, alberta, measuring propane
heater on-times while using the foam system on alternate -20 f nights over
3 years. he might have saved more, with more attention to solar heat storage
vs insulation.
this was an inexpensive structure with 2 layers of plastic film, something
like the $649 bent steel pipe kits for 14'x96' greenhouses from schwartz
& sons in wilmington, de (800) 523-3500. we just bought a 24'x96' aluminum
pipe greenhouse with a large fan for $1k, used. now full of tomato plants.
but how could we keep burglars out, if this were a residence?
maybe a perimeter chain link fence, a la gehry...
