philips says these are usable with ordinary incandescent dimmers...

that's in the works. the aesthetics chair looked at the cfs today and
said "looks fine to me, but we will have to talk with other people."

these are the new philips marathon _dimmable_ 23 w 1500 lumen cfs.

the window is about the same size as the mirror, which should completely
illuminate the window, with some light left on the outside wall. this will
create an unchanging patch on the ceiling with the windows outline, like
a self-aligning gate on an ic. duane says individual heliostats usually
don't concentrate, because the focal length would have to change with the
angle of the sun.

probably better in the cloudier uk. this morning was clear, with about
10% cloud cover, and i measured 756 fc in direct sun, vs 48 in my own
narrow shadow.

i would like to lighten the turf outside our 3 6'x8' glazed south-facing
double doors. maybe white pebbles or concrete. or whitewash the grass for
the art show, with the greenhouse stuff that lasts until freezing weather.
