wood is work.

water has about 3x more heat capacity by volume...

as thermal decor (246 btu/f) near a south window, you can make an 8' tall
objet d'art with a 2-liter bottle hexagon on the floor kissing a central
bottle and 3 vertical broomsticks or pipes or bamboo rods in alternate
interior vertices, with a taut perimeter nylon rope, and 7 more kissing
hexagons above that. from the top, in courier font:
b b
b
b b b(ottle)
b b(roomstick)
b b
you could leave out the central bottles and broomsticks and make
an interesting mobile with 48 bottles and ropes and more water-air
heat-transfer surface, if you didn't mind hanging 211 pounds from
an eyebolt in the ceiling.
