volunteers needed for solar house heating project 20 nov 1996 we are 100% solar-heating a 10x12' cabin at the non-profit evansburg youth hostel this winter, by adding-on some sunspaces and thermal storage. the hostel (eburgayh@aol.com) is a very nice and quiet and inexpensive place to stay, located in pennsylvania's evansburg state park, which is about 2 miles wide by 6 miles long, with lots of nice hiking and riding trails along both sides of beautiful skippack creek. the hostel is part of the hosteling international organization, and their theme is sustainable living. the cabin will have accomodations for two people. heat and hot water will be provided only by the sun. this winter's performance will be monitored with a data logger/controller with easy help menus and a modem, with temperature, sun, wind and electrical power sensors installed at the site. the data will be collected and analyzed by dr. paul bashus from the ursinus college physics department as a continuation of his solar heating research. dr. bashus and electrical engineering professor rick perry of villanova university have been working with engineer nick pine on cabin modifications. if you would like to assist with this construction, no experience necessary, please let us know. nicholson l. pine system design and consulting pine associates, ltd.
