my basement woodstove has a steel 55 gallon drum with a couple of plastic
liners on top. the water gets up to about 130 f. i might put 8 more drums
around it, 2 on each side, stacked 2-high, for 4k btu/h of thermal mass
equivalent to about 25k pounds of masonry. the drum was free.

i've redirected followups to alt.energy.renewable, since this discussion
has nothing to do with "practical uses of the sun's heat."
