you may not need the hose or transparent cover in summertime. otoh,
you might make hot water and space heat and electricity year round in
a solar attic with a fresnel knee wall and a 4' wide draindown poly film
duct over some standard pv panels on the attic floor.

i'd say more storage, eg a 4'x8'x2' tall epdm-lined plywood box
containing a 42 gallon bare pressurized tank as a heat exchanger.
or put the box upstairs with no heat exchanger for less collector
pumping power and gravity feed for the shower.
