seems unlikely, altho it's a starting point. related questions:
does it need the evap fan, if the freezer back panel is removed to expose
the evap coil? how often would it need manual defrosting if we disconnect
the defrost heaters and never open the freezer door? (the aformentioned
criminal said 4x per day.)

ps: i'm beginning to realize my 2-wire extension cord test doesn't prove
much, since the gfci runs the hot and neutral wires through a 1000:1 toroid
to measure the current difference, vs the green wire current.
it's interesting that the nec rates the gfci ground terminal as a legal
protective ground, even in buildings with no ground wire...
