or 2 side-by-side identical fridges with kill-a-watt meters in
the not-so-controlled back room of an appliance store, with 8
10 second door-openings per day, swapping the contents after a week.
i can imagine that a totally empty fridge might use more energy if
there's so little mass that the thermostat hunts, with a short cycle
time and large temperature over/undershoots, but it might not take
much mass to fix that, eg a wad of gum on the temperature sensor.
