you might enjoy the moisture, as well as the extra heat. the lower heating
value of natural gas is 930 btu/ft^3. the higher value is 1027, 10% more,
with condensation.
warming outdoor air with average humidity ratio w = 0.0025 in january in
phila from 30 to 70 f makes the indoor rh 16%. if an average house leaks
224 cfm and an average family evaporates 2 gallons per day indoors, the rh
rises to 20%. if an average house with 400 btu/h-f of thermal conductance
and 600 kwh/mo of indoor electrical use burns 13.2k btu/h of unvented gas
for heat, that raises the rh to 29%.
more caulking helps too...
