a tempering tank, with possible condensation... do you have a basement?
a graywater heat exchanger might actually save energy. how about a plastic
55 gallon drum in series with the shower and sink drain, with about 100'
of pressurized cold water hose coiled inside for a preheater?
my woodstove has a plastic drum full of 130 f water on top, with 300'
of 160 f swan reinforced garden hose (from grainger) inside that connects
a cold water tap in the basement to the drain fitting on the electric water
heater. it's actually two hoses in parallel, to lower the flow resistance.
tie them together with strings every 2' and apply water pressure before
coiling them up in the drum through the bungholes, to avoid kinks.
have fun,
nick
